Young hearts singing…

I cut loose from work early yesterday, as I was incapable of stringing two more words together. Our fridge shelves were empty, so I headed out to do the grocery shopping and left Tim working with the smell of a meal in the slow cooker to keep him going.

It was already dark as I arrived and parked up. The store had few people in it, and as I pottered around the end of the first aisle, there was a little lad around six years old playing with some metal elves and angels on the shelves. His coat was hanging open over his school uniform, and he was in a world of his own singing ‘Away in a Manger’. I smiled as I moved past.

As I paused by the fruit and veg display, an expectant Mum pushed her trolley past with a young lad resting against the shopping in the cart. He was singing while he pushed a pair of spectacles back up the bridge of his nose. I rubbed the soles of his shoes as his feet jiggled over the edge of the trolley. He didn’t miss a note.

On another aisle, I came across a lad in his school uniform, singing quietly as he followed behind his Mum.

The penny dropped as I came upon a little girl singing ‘Silent Night’ at the top of her voice by the ice cream counter.

It is the season of nativity plays and joy for children. <3

Great job of painting the picture for your readers, Jane! I can see it all, and it brings a smile to my face.
